Upper Svaneti - WILD itinerary: from Nakra to Ushguli

Wild because this is the least traveled route – and you’ll realize it as you walk through the forests between Nakra and Mazeri. A totally different landscape from the alpine meadows we’ll see later.<br>Giant trees, streams to ford, grazing animals, and local shepherds surprised to see us walking here.<br>Homemade honey and cheese, khachapuri in all shapes and sizes, fresh-baked in wood-fired ovens that still heat homes.<br>Breathtaking campsites and the freshest water you'll ever taste.<br><br>This is my favorite itinerary – it includes all the landscapes, colors, and people that make Svaneti so magical. Upper Svaneti - PANORAMIC itinerary: from Mazeri to Ushguli via Guli Pass

For those who get altitude sickness in the lowlands – challenge yourself on the Guli Pass!<br>Less known and more recent than the Mestia–Ushguli route, this panoramic itinerary requires good physical fitness and rewards you with unprecedented views.<br><br>Ushba waterfalls, the namesake mountain, and the village of Mazeri offer an authentic experience still infused with a Soviet-era atmosphere. This is a walk through the centuries – from medieval towers to the first solar panels just now being used by shepherds.
